Dear Friends,

We are nearing the end of another academic session. A year which was remarkable for the Bishop Canning Scottish Church Collegiate School in many ways, we are thankful to the Lord Almighty for His blessings. Every school has its own characteristics; the approach to modern education has become more Child-centric. Our teachers have successfully in the year 2023 motivated our students to discover new skills and knowledge. The New Education Policy 2023 is all about transforming our existing education system. It's a revolutionary approach that aims to bring in modern teaching methods, embrace the power of technology, and promote learning based on practical skills. We must get ready for the changing world around us.

Parents reading this message must remember that they shouldn’t just concentrate on raising the child but guide the child through the path of self-discovery. There is a limit to what a child can be taught however good the school might be. Do not limit yourself to just paying their fees, buying books and checking report cards. You need to constantly interact with your child in a friendly manner, share information and be supportive even when they do not fare well in their studies.

For a child to grow up as a smart, intelligent and responsive person in this tough world the role of the school and parents are crucial. There ought to be constant interactions. Sharing of information regarding a child’s progress should be done regularly. The Scottish Church Collegiate School always encourages regular interactions especially in the Pre-Primary & Primary sections of the school.

Many new schools have mushroomed in Kolkata promising the best education possible which may be misleading. On the other hand the Scottish Church Collegiate School is a heritage school; with nearly two centuries of experience. The Kestopur branch of the school offers state of the art facilities. We have also adopted a more interesting and friendly manner of teaching, involving the students in play-like classes. We are stressing more on extra-curricular activities.

Children are impressionable and like clay in a potter’s hand, the two most important entities in a child’s life the parents and the teachers need to constantly monitor their progress, the children will become what we make them. Their days spent in the school will lay the foundation for developing their nature, personality and their individual self.

I would like to thank the President of the Managing Committee Right Rev. Dr. Paritosh Canning Bishop of Calcutta, our Secretary Rev. Biswajit Biswas, School Committee members, Teachers, Non teaching staff and Guardians for their encouragement and support throughout the year.
